Who is the John Budnik Band?

Yielding from the fertile soils of the Matanuska-Susitna Valley in Palmer, Alaska, the John Budnik Band draws its influences from classic artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Tom Petty, and Eric Clapton; to contemporary muses like John Mayer, Lukas Nelson & POTR, John Butler Trio and Ben Harper.

"Principal songwriter John Budnik has assembled an excellent cast of musicians to help bring these songs a life that they wouldn’t have if Budnik simply performed them solo." - Jamie Robash, Divide and Conquer Music / Transformations Review

Born out of a dimly lit bar’s open mic, the band dedicated itself to honing the craft of music and songwriting in order to begin live performances as a group in 2016. Shortly after releasing their debut album Transformations (2017), the band lost two of its founding members due to life circumstances. Frontman John Budnik challenged himself to write songs for the newly formed three-piece ensemble with a focus on searing riffs and melodic rock tones. Meanwhile, Cody O'Mary evolved into a musical force playing the lapsteel guitar and drums simultaneously. Taking the audience on a sonic surf ride, the songs and jams are glued together with an upright bass plucked by Steve Thomas.

The band is proud to have played some of Alaska's finest musical events like the Trapper Creek Bluegrass Festival (2017) and Salmonfest (2017, 2019) alongside national touring acts such as Jason Mraz, Jewel, Ani DiFranco, Railroad Earth, Keller Williams, and the California Honeydrops; to local bands like Adam Patterson and the Heavy Hearts, Ukulele Russ and his One Man Frontier Band, The Shoot Dangs, and SunDog. In 2018, the John Budnik Band opened for SISTERS.

Between the bar gigs, festivals and house parties, the John Budnik Band is currently finalizing four new singles set to be released during Summer 2019.
